【释义】：

n．①理由，原因，缘故：for this reason 基于这个原因．for no other reason than that只因…的理由．give reasons for sth．(doing sth．)说明某事(做某事)的理由．There are many reasons why we should accept his view．我们有许多理由应该接受他的意见．There is reason to believe that he is loyal to the Party．有理由相信他是忠于党的．by reason of因为，由于．②道理，常识，明智的行为：bring(sb．)to reason 使(某人)服理．do anything in reason 做任何合理明智的事．listen to(or hear) reason 服从道理，听从劝告．It stands to reason(that)合平道理，道理很明显．③理解，理性，理智：lose one’s reason 失去理性(智)．rea·son·less a．缺乏理性的，没有理智的，不合道理的．
