【释义】：

约伯认为命运不济；(喻)晦气

After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

And Job spake, and said,

Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

Let darkness and the shadow of death slain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

Lo,let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that 1 should suck?

For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had 1 been at rest,

此后，约伯开口咒诅自己的生日，说：

“愿我生日的那日和说怀了男胎的那夜都灭没。

愿那日变为黑暗；愿神不从上面寻找他，愿亮光不照于其上。

愿黑暗和死荫索取那日，愿密去停在其上，愿日蚀恐吓它。

愿那夜被幽暗夺取，不在年中的日子同乐，也不入月中的数目。

愿那夜没有生育，其间也没有欢乐的声音。

愿那咒诅的日子且能惹动鳄鱼的，咒诅那夜。

愿那夜黎明的星宿变为黑暗，盼亮却不亮，也不见早晨的光线；

因没有把怀我胎的门关闭，也没有将患难对我的眼隐藏。

我为何不出母胎而死?为何不出母腹绝气?

为何有膝接收我?为何有奶哺养我?

不然，我就早已躺卧安睡。”
