主人：(喻)主管者

And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites. which had brought him down thither.

And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

Gen.39:1-4

约瑟被带下埃及去。

有一个埃及人是法老的内臣、护卫长波提乏，从那些带下他来的以实玛利人手下买下了他。

约瑟住在他主人埃及人的家中。

耶和华与他同在，他就百事顺利。

他主人见耶和华与他同在，又见耶和华使他手里所办的事尽都顺利，

约瑟就在主人跟前蒙恩，伺候他主人，并且主人派他管理家务，把一切所有的都交在他手里。

《创世纪》39∶1－4

Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.

If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.

If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's and he shall go out by himself.

And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.

Exod.21:1-6

你在百姓面前所要立的典章是这样：

你若买希伯来人作奴仆，他必服侍你六年，第七年他可以自由，白白地出去。

他若孤身来，就可以孤身去；他若有妻，他的妻就可以同他出去。

他主人若给他妻子，妻子给他生了儿子或女儿，妻子和女儿要归主人，他要独自出去。

倘或奴仆明说：“我爱我的主人和我的妻子儿女，不愿自由出去。”

他的主人就要带他到审判官那里，又要带他到门前，靠近门框，用锥子穿他的耳朵，他就永远服侍主人。
