摩西；(原义)从水中救起；(喻)伟大的英雄

And there was a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

And the woman conceived, and bare a son; and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.

And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

And the daughter of pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him. and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.

Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go.And the maid went and called the child's mother.

And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her,Take this child away,and nurse it for me. and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.

And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son.And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

有一个利未家的人，娶了一个利未女子为妻。

那女人怀孕，生了一个儿子，见他俊美就藏他三个月。

后来不能再藏，就取了一个蒲草箱，抹上石漆和石油，将孩子放在里头，把箱子搁在河边的芦荻中。

孩子的姐姐远远站着，要知道他究竟怎么样。

法老的女儿来到河边洗澡，她的使女在河边行走。

她看见箱子在芦荻中，就打发一个婢女拿来。

她打开箱子看见那孩子。孩子哭了，她就可怜他，说：“这是希伯来人的一个孩子。”

孩子的姐姐对法老的女儿说：“我去在希伯来妇人中叫一个奶妈来，为你奶这孩子，可以不可以?”

法老的女儿说：“可以。”童女就去叫了孩子的母亲来。

法老的女儿对她说：“你把这孩子抱去，为我奶他。我必给你工价。”妇人就抱了孩子去奶他。

孩子渐长，妇人把他带到法老的女儿那里，就作了他的儿子。他给孩子起名叫摩西。意思说：“因我把他从水里拉了出来。”
